Reviving the Agricultural Industry of Yafa: A Vision Beyond Profit

At Starmocha, as founders, our mission was never just about making money. From the very beginning, our focus has been on improving and developing the agricultural industry in Yemen, particularly the coffee and fruit farming sectors. For many years, we’ve worked together with a deep desire to uplift the building industry and provide long-term benefits to local farmers. Today, our vision extends beyond simply purchasing coffee from farmers; we aim to sell it, generate a profit, and, most importantly, create a sustainable industry that benefits the land, trees, and farmers of Yafa.

Our goal is to revive the agricultural sector by addressing the unique challenges of the mountainous region, such as the lack of rainfall and the difficulty of using modern machinery in the high-altitude farms. Yafa’s farms are small, terraced plots that require careful management, as they sit on steep mountainsides, making agriculture more labor-intensive. Despite these challenges, the high-quality produce, such as coffee and pomegranates, thrives here, and we believe it deserves to be recognized for its value beyond just trade. We aim to improve the industry by finding solutions to make farming more sustainable, using organic fertilizers, and offering better support to farmers.

We understand that if farmers do not receive adequate support, they may abandon traditional crops like pomegranates for quicker-to-grow, less suitable alternatives. Our mission is to help farmers overcome these obstacles, ensuring the sustainability and profitability of their crops. By investing in the land, trees, and people of Yafa, we seek to create a model of agricultural success that honors tradition while embracing the future.
